Paypal for Charity donations to Kenya

Hi. I am looking at setting up a PayPal Account for charity donations to a Community Based Organisation in Kenya. To be clear, donors from outside Kenya will submit payments online. These payments will be withdrawn in Kenya by the Charity Administrator by transfer to Kenyan Bank Account or by MPesa. I would like to know what is required to set this up and all associated charges (set up charge, overseas payment charge, currency switch fee, standard charge, monthly admin charges etc).

What are alternatives to PayPal?

I am a UK resident with a personal Paypal Account. I am currently based in Kenya helping charities raise funds.

Hi,

Unfortunately paypal accounts in Kenya can't withdraw funds from their paypal balance, they can only 'spend' the amount that is in their paypal balance.

The only option in Kenya for withdrawing funds is to a U.S bank account and that option is only their because paypal is a U.S company and allows its ex-pats to add their bank accounts to other countries paypal accounts if they are living or working in that country.

Also as paypal is country specific you would not be able to use your UK paypal account in Kenya but you are allowed to open another paypal account based in Kenya but as i said it has limitations.
