Buyer opened unauthorized claim

Hi, please help.  On 17 July buyer on eBay bought my item Buy Now (£370) and paid immediately. I was selling two similar items under same listing so I messaged the buyer using eBay and asked which unit he wants. He then replied and also said to post to THIS address (I can't provide it for obvious reason). I clicked at the Order Details for this transaction on eBay and in the Delivery Address section I saw THIS address and below it another one. I though this was some kind of glitch on eBay and anyway buyer messaged me so I posted the item to the address he wanted. A few weeks later (today) I looked at my PayPal account and there is £370 pending balance as buyer opened an Unauthorized Claim. I posted the item via ParcelForce and tracking no shows the item was delivered. I was asked by PayPal to confirm whether the delivery address I sent the item to is shown on the Transaction Details page on PayPal to which I replied yes, however, as mentioned before, there are two full addresses there and I don't know now what PayPal is going to do. Should I worry that I will lose both money and the item? Has anyone got similar problem before?

Hi snoozyblue, I understand your point but there are 2 addresses in the PayPal receipt. Below I wrote the format the address was entered. This is the first time I am experiencing something like this. From my point of view I have done everything correctly. The address I posted to is shown in the PayPal receipt. I know there is another address there but since buyer contacted me I was let to believe that there was some glitch or the buyer must have entered the address wrong in eBay in the first place and then messaged me after seeing this.

PayPal Seller Protection requires you to send the item to the address that PayPal provides you with on the email receipt. The reason for this is that they can't validate an address given to you outside of their system actually does belong to the buyer. If you've sent it to an address other than that one, you may not have seller protection I'm afraid =/

Buyers can add 'gift' addresses to their paypal account and you are still covered by seller protection if you send to either that have actually been added to the buyers paypal account.

So hopefully you will be covered for seller protection.

The only time you are not is if you send to an address that is NOT on the buyers paypal account.

However there are other reasons why you may not be covered by seller protection so you need to read up on it so you can risk assess future transactions.

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Hello. You said you checked what the shipping address was through ebay. Did you check directly from the paypal website? Check the actual transaction directly inside paypal.

Just to let everyone know, PayPal has made a fina decistion today and the case has been decided in my favour.

I would warn all of you to make sure you post the goods sold on eBay to the address shown on PayPal sales page otherwise you won't be protected from fraud.
