hi,

ive recently sold a fish tank on eBay that was collection only (for obvious e buyer paid via PayPal and the payment put on hold as I'm quite new to selling on eBay.

theyve now collected it, we're delighted and have left positive feedback...but the hold is still in place.  I've done a bit of digging and thought the hold lifted 24 hours after positive feedback had been left.  Is the fact that I can put tracking info in effecting it?  Surely an item listed 'collection only' shouldn't need it.

can anyone offer any advice?

You should never use paypal for an item that is to be collected or personally delivered as you have 0 seller protection.

Your buyer can collect the item and then file a dispute for non receipt of item. As you would have no tracking number to prove delivery of the item to him then you would lose the dispute.

That is why Ebay give you the option of 'cash on collection' and you can state in your decription that that is the only payment you will accept. If a buyer pays with Paypal then you are allowed to refund that payment and re-state 'cash on collection'.

That way you have cash in hand / no wait / no fee / no risk of a dispute.

Positive feedback has no bearing on payment release and hasn't for years. If you can't provide a tracking number than you have to normally wait 21 days.

Info in this Ebay link below about Ebays hold.
