I just sold a brand new sony blu ray player and ebay refunded money without buyer returning item....I dont understand what happened, I heard that there is a new scam out there where basically all a buyer has to do is buy a new  item, then when item arrives claim that its used and not as described and ebay will site with the buyer every time. But I thought that customer would at least have to send a used item back and keep the new one...but now ebay will give them a full refund without them sending item back??? WHY would they not want to protect their sellers who pay them?? I am very upset over this, I am a small retailer who sells items on ebay only when I am trying to move product, I hardly ever make any money and now this! I have just had $250 stole from me and ebay and paypal let it happen!

The scammers may be more visible to some people but the fact is that the level of scamming has gone down.

You almost never hear about a hijacked account anymore, thanks to the Paypal security key and the ebay IP identification.

SCO scams are extinct.

The Nigerian scammers are nothing compared to what they used to be in North America - for comparison purposes, look at ebay UK - that's what we used to be like.

Progress is being made.

I would not go that far to say that most of the scams you named are extinct. They are more like hiding in plain sight right now. As sellers most of us know how to avoid these scams and deal with them if they do become a problem. I praise the Paypal community fourms for exchanging helpful information such as advice and warnings of these scams.

And for you What-a-joke you can try to make a request for a feedback revision on Ebay, but due to the nature of the relations between you and the buyer he may ignore it. It is best to try anyway.
