I want to know you're experiences with this hold policy. I have sold multiple items on eBay and I always get a tracking number when I ship an item. I have confirmation that the items have been delivered but I still have holds on the money. I have also added the tracking numbers to paypal and to eBay. I have not however received any feedback yet. It has only been a few days since the items have been delivered but I want to know if I'm going to have to wait the full 20 day hold or if anyone has experience with this and can tell me how long it takes. Thanks

I have been supportive of this issue for some time and post links and news to read--not sure everyone bothers to read the news or not. I have suggested this before and I have not read a single post in return.
Now Listen if you are interested in trying this theory then I am going to only post this one more time.
First enroll in PayPal's money market account:
Withdraw your funds at any time
No minimum investment
Managed by the experts at Barclays Global Investors-- This is not controlled by PayPal in anyway--it is a security with a prospectus and run by Barclays. I have been in the money market for years and the interest earned is insignicant buymy funds were only held for a short time in January and then released without me doing anything.
If we believe that one of the sole purposes of this is for ebay/paypal to make money on our held funds by collecting intereswt then this would prevent that occurence. In my opinion this is worth trying. You might just get your funds released and be safe for future transactions.
If you try this please post if and when anything happens negative or postitive. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

This answer has been posted in the active forums but for the new posters that may not be aware, there is a good search function tp use to search the boards and find this information and what the outcome was. Here is how you can contact PayPal:
On any of the Paypal forum pages in the upper right hand corner is "PayPal Help"-click that link the help page will open up; look at the left hand column of boxes and you will see the last box states "Call or Email us"; or in the bottom of the page is the same link that states "contact us" Click on either and you will be taken to a screen where there is a link to click on to call. I blieve you will then get a popup window with the phone number and call ID number then call PayPal and you will have the pleasure of talking to PayPal India who will refer you to eBay. You may get lucky and get someone who actually knows what to do but holding your funds that long is ridiculous.
Good luck

I agree with every single on of you, this is VERY ANNOYING!! I have sold some items and pretty much on each one, I have had to shell out the money to ship it while PayPal holds the funds. Then when the item gets delivered, I have to wait for the buyer to leave feedback. Well, we all know that people can take forever on that. UNLESS they are unhappy, they are quick to let you know that. But until they leave you feedback, you don't get your money unless you have hit the time period. I think this policy is very stupid. I understand there are times when you need to refund, but when that happens, the money gets held from your balance. So I just don't understand why this policy is in place.
There is no need for it. All it does is just create a huge pain in the rear for everyone.
If nothing else, at least seperate the shipping cost from the item cost so we can use our account to ship it. That would be a lot nicer than having to make ourselves broke by paying unneccessary shipping costs on our own.

This "Funds Holding" policy is total nonsense. I haven't sold anything on eBay in awhile and was shocked to see this change with paypal when I came back. So now we have to ship the item and pay the ebay fee's out of our own pocket while waiting to get OUR money from paypal (Let that be a reminder to paypal, this is OUR money NOT YOURS!) while they let it sit in their bank account and collect interest. I wonder how much additional revenue this brings in for the company and if that had anything to do with this policy?..... Even having a tracking number with confirmed deilvery dosent seem to speed the process along.

A confirmed delivery SHOULD get your money released. I was told today that even though I have a tracking number, and the PO has record of my shipment, since a notice was left for the buyer and it wasn't actually delivered yet, I won't get my money until the buyer physically picks up the envelope from the PO.

Yeah this is complete bull. They have zero right to hold onto monies that do NOT belong to them. Their job is to be a payment agent and not the God of money. They have zero right and they are holding our money and collecting interest from it. The policies here are more worse than an actual real bank. PayPal is a scam. A class-action needs to be filed on anti-trust grounds for the fact that eBay is owned by PayPal and they do NOT accomodate any other valid ways of payment.
I will be contacting the local attorney general regarding severe legal action. Also, when I ship with PayPal and provide accurate tracking then they still don't release my money after 4 days of confirmed delivery. Now I see there is no seller protection, only buyer protection. The advantage is clearly with the buyer. A scumbag bought a very expensive Mac laptop from me for $1800.00... After he received the computer he took all the parts from the insides and sent it back with nad motherboard, HardDrive, and other vital components. I end up $1800.00 in the hole with an expensive piece of metal that can only be used as a replica. Im sick of paypal...Ive had it up to here. Im using Craigslist and other means now. The buyer doesnt have to wait 21 days before his product is released, so why do I wait soo long to get my money??? Most of us can NOT afford to have our money in their esco account gaining interest for them. I hate having to ask and beg for my OWN money. I dont even have to ask my own wife for my money, so why a stupid **bleep** company that isnt even a legitamate bank??? And if they are theyre breaking the law by not paying us out interest.
Tomorrow afternoon I will be forwarding complaints to the Federal Trade Commission, BBB, and attorney general!

Like lovethebluesman said, all PayPal has accomplished is to turn things around so buyers can now scam sellers.
I just sold a netbook computer. The buyer has a period of time - how many days, I don't know - in which they can just let their kids drop it on the floor and claim a refund, and I'm out my money.
