Hello,

today I recieved mail from paypal that I paid 6.87 GBP to a merchant Parcel Monkey Ltd. I never paid for this!!!

Should I just regard this as a spam or investigate how is it possible that someone is using my email address telling me that I paid for something which I never did?

Hey Elstupot,

These emails are more than likely not from PayPal. The biggest give away is that they don’t begin with your full name like official PayPal emails, they ask you to click on a link or download an attachment which we wouldn’t ask and you can’t see the transactions in your History.

If you have clicked on the link and provided log in details to a fake PayPal site and financials then you need to change the password on PayPal and cancel your cards with the bank that you entered.

If you haven’t provided any info but clicked on the link you should run anti-virus.

In future, if you are unsure about any email received please forward it to spoof@paypal.com for investigation.

Hi there Elstupot,

No, nobody has your information. This just means that you have received a spoof/phishing email.

We are familiar with this one and I can confirm that it is definitely not from PayPal. Once you forward it to spoof@paypal.com you are good to go ahead and delete it.

That is terrible, and the very reason why we want hackers and fraudsters stopped. Any payment you make from PayPal that has been made without your authorisation, will be investigated. Once we confirm he fraud we will refund you in full. If you have gone into arrears with your bank, then please explain the situation to them and ask that they waiver any fees or charges that had resulted from the incident. Hope that helps and good luck.

I have just recieved 2 emails to say i have authorised 2 transactions to Cassava enterprises for £385.31 and £393.33

They appear in my account but then dissappear when I try to report them to the resolution centre

Can anyone advise me as to wether the money will be taken from my account ?

Thanks

Hey there, if these have been made without your permission, then you need to contact PayPal immediately. It sounds like they are authorisations rather than actual payments. This means that “Cassava enterprises” have the right to take those funds, but have not done so yet. There may be a limitation on your account as a result of this activity. Please now log –in and follow the steps in the “Resolution Centre” of your PayPal account, and remember all fraud payments made from an account are 100% covered once the fraud has been confirmed. Good Luck.

I have received an email also, saying I had successfully pruchased something from amzon.  I panicked a little & clicked on the section which said 'cancel transaction', it took me to what I thought was the log in page for paypal. I filled my name and date of birth, then it was asking for payment details, which I didn't fill in, then went to log in.  Now I'm worried becasue my date of birth was in there.  I have since logged into paypal & changed my password and added a pin for extra secturity, I'm just wondering if it wise to close my actual email account and set up a new one?

Hi there Shellyk,

If you have entered your password for your email account I would advise that you change this password, you do not necessarily need to close down the email account.

Once you have not entered any financial information and you have changed your password and security questions through PayPal then you are not at risk.

Can I ask that you forward this email to spoof@paypal.com.

I recieved an email this morning saying I have paid Skype £18.00. I have checked my PayPal account and nothing has been taken. I went to forward the message to Spoof but it says that if I do all pictures will be displayed and links will be displayed, is this safe to do or shall I just delete the email and not forward it?

Thanks
