Having forgotten my password (a long time ago) I have been refunded some money into my paypal account before I could arrange anything different. Thing is, I can't check it because I can't get in.
When I go through the process for resetting a lost password I recieve an email with a link but when I click on the link, the paypal page sais 'The link we provided has expired.'. I've tried the phone number you provided but it just sends me to the sign in page and tells me to click on the link to retrieve my password (sooo redundant). There was another thing where I could use the phone where you would phone me, except that there are two numbers and the default one is way out of date but the page refused absolutely to use the optional number.
I feel as though I have been going round in circles and getting no where. Its so frustrating. I just want to talk to a human being who can ask a few security questions to verify me and then unlock my account with a new password.
Another problem I have is where I cannot use my bank card with paypal or create a new account because they are all associated to the same card number ... so I really can't use pay pal anymore and you guys are the reason why. Please help. 😞

The number takes you to an automaton which is pretty useless. Infact the advice it gives is to follow the online help and password reset which would have landed me back in the same place I was in before.
However...
I remembered that on some of these automated systems, if you don't respond they put a human on for people who can't manage, like the elderly. Well, I wasn't managing anyway so I just decided to hold on the phone and not say anything. It took a long while and I was about to give up when it went through to an actuall person. They saw that my account was locked thanks to all my bumbling attempts to get in and was able to unlock and send a new link straight away.
My problem with that was then solved and very quickly. I decided that I should return to this post and inform those who also have this problem on how to get their solution.
