Quick Security Check is Broken, cannot make payment

Context:

a. I logged into my account and updated my phone number successfully (validated with a text message).

b. When I place an order with paypal, there's a "Quick security check" popping up, listing only one option: "Receive a text", and there's no number under it to choose from, only an add phone button. When I add my number with this button, there's an error: "This type of phone number isn't supported. Check your number and try again." My number is on AT&T, not a virtual carrier.

c. I have called customer support last week. There has not been an update yet. Email support is not helpful either.

 

I can login and do whatever I want, I can even change a number but just cannot pay. Isn't it funny?

The system that only relies on phone number to validate does not make any sense. Absolutely worst design I ever seen.

I see some same issues in the community, FIX IT PLEASE.

I'd first recommend reviewing the troubleshooting steps on your end by changing your browser or clearing your cache and cookies. It would be great if you used a laptop or a desktop to perform this action after 24-48 hours.

 

Also, I recommend you disable the 2FA as of now. Here's an help center article with more information:  How do I turn on or off 2-step verification for PayPal account login?. If you're still running into issues after that, please reach out to our Customer Support teams by clicking "Contact" at the bottom of any PayPal page.

I am having the same problem are you

 

I tried to pay for an item on ebay and I get a quick security check when trying to pay by paypal

I can not add a phone number to the page.  I tried several number and the page says all the phone numbers are not supported.

I added a  phone number to my paypal page when I logged into paypal and that did not work also.

 

When I try to add a BANK to withdraw my funds to a bank account I get the quick security check

when I try to send money to another paypal account I get an error

 

This company is baloney with all their security that doesn't work.  I am going to file a small claim against paypal.

I am having the exact same issue. Looks like PayPal does not care for its customers whatsoever. I am very frustrated too.
