Unable to view and respond to messages people send me

I'm unable to see messages that people send me via paypal - they appear in my phone notifications, but the paypal inbox is empty. Where do I find these messages, so I can respond to them?

Thank you for visiting the PayPal Community. I am sorry to hear that you are unable to locate your messages with another user. If you have received an email update for a new message from another PayPal user, there will be a link that directs you to the message. If you have not received an email, you may locate this message by locating your transaction with this other user. Within the transaction details page, click "message" and this will bring you to the conversation with your counterparty. The PayPal inbox Message Center is for notifications from PayPal or PayPal Customer Service. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
