Annoying ‘send text message’

Hi,
can anyone advise on how to switch off the annoying ‘sending a text message’ option whenever I log in to my account? It isn’t 2 stage verification - I looked at that to switch it off but I don’t have it set up (so nothing to switch off). My login is set to ‘remember this device’ but that doesn’t seem to make any difference. It’s really annoying as I have to go and find my phone each time and invariably have to charge it up (my phone is for emergencies when I’m travelling - it isn’t permanently attached to my arm). By the time I’ve done this the login page has generally cancelled itself and I have to start again.

Hello @stephimac,
Welcome to our community help forum and thanks for posting!
I understand you want to turn off the 2 Step verification feature in your PayPal account. Here's how to turn off 2-step verification:
Go to Settings.
Click Security.
Click Update next to "2-step verification."
Click Turn Off next to 2-step verification, then click the Turn It Off button.
You can also opt to skip 2-step verification on a device you trust. Simply log in to PayPal on the device and complete 2-step verification. You'll see the option to "trust this device."
Best wishes,
Bindu

You completely missed my point - why just repeat what I’ve already said and offer it as a solution? I cannot switch off something that is not switched on! I never asked for this stupid two step verification and I can’t get rid of it; it doesn’t provide me with any better security and wastes my time.

Hi @stephimac
Thank you for your post and this is a good question. The text message that is sent to your phone when you are logging in is a security feature designed to protect your account. Although as you say can be annoying at times it is there for your safety. This is not something that can be switched off on your account and is being widely used by lots of different companies and banks. I do get that you may not use your mobile phone and having to get the text message can be inconvenient however this is a must to log in to your account.
Thanks
Paula
