How to turn off 2FA code for my phone but keep it on for all the other devices?

Hey all. I have 2-step verification on via Google Authenticator app. Please can someone explain to me how I choose a primary device (e.g. my phone), so that I don't have to enter 2FA code every time I open PayPal app?

Hi @vd789,

Welcome to the PayPal community! I understand that you are facing issues with the 2-step verification, as you are asked to enter 6 digit code each time. PayPal’s 2-step verification gives you an extra layer of security, this is only to ensure that your account is protected.

To turn off 2-step verification:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click Security
  3. Click Update next to "2-step verification."
  4. Click Turn Off next to 2-step verification, then click the Turn It Off button.

You can opt to skip 2-step verification on a device you trust. Simply log in to PayPal on the device and complete a 2-step verification. You'll see the option to "trust this device." More information can be found in this help-center article

I hope this helps!

- Ali

Thank you for the reply, @ali_3, but I don't see "trust this device" button neither on iOS, nor on the web.

So essentially if I disable 2FA using an authenticator which then uses text message code as a fallback, the app works fine and it allows paypal to remember the device. If I set up the authenticator app again, it starts asking for code every time I want to login into the app. What a badly designed system

I am not able to trust any device since the button does never appear. Neither on andriod, web or ios. After i switched phones i have to "authenticate" myself every time i open the app. Which mean in 30 minuets trying to disable this i hat to "authenticate" myself at least 20 times

I’m facing the same issue. This makes the iOS app experience basically unbearable. Absolutely dreadful.
