I can not close an account I didn't open

Someone else in AU used my email address to open an paypal account in AU (back in 2008 it seems).

I can't close the account because it wants me to confirm the my identity and address in AU (but I live in the UK!).

The resolution centre won't let me raise a ticket. It just goes to the transactions screen which is empty.

Help bot is useless and there seem to be no way to talk to an actual human.

How can I get paypal.au to understand this and just close this account?

Thanks for the link.  They did answer but were not at all helpful.  They didn't close the account or remove my email (because it was confirmed - yes by me because they don't let you login now until you do that right, so go figure).  They told me the same things that I told them about the situation and offered no actual solution.  They did remove my UK phone number, but because they raised a ticket rather than just answering by email I needed to log into the account, which I could only do once I'd re-added and then reconfirmed the phone number.

Honestly it's like they a) didn't even really try and b) don't understand the basics of personal information, fraud or how their own systems work.

0/10 so far.

I did ask them specifically now to just close the account, which I hope they will do, but nothing so far.

Try again in a few days, some agents are more helpful / knowledgeable than others !!

If not request you are transferred to a supervisor?
