I cannot contact PayPal support in any way

I cannot contact PayPal support in any way. I'm outside of the US at the moment, so I can't use the 888 number. The phone umber which PayPal lists for use outside the US doesn't work at all. I just get a message saying the phone number doesn't exist. And no one will answer in chat even though PayPal is open in the US. I'm so sick of PayPal. The worst customers service. Ridiculous. Can't even get ahold of them, much less get any help.

Contact options for each countries Paypal customer services are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages.

1. Paypal phones (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, (during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out).
4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a personal message from their Facebook or Twitter pages.
It's: https://www.facebook.com/PayPal and @AskPayPal for Twitter.

This doesn't help me. Im trying to reach the US PayPal customer service and I cant.

> "1. Paypal phones (you can use the guest option if you can't log in)."

PayPal phone? What is that? Do you mean PayPal phone numbers? I can log in just fine. I'm logged in. PayPal provides two phone numbers to contact my country's (USA) PayPal customer support, as I already said in the original post: The 888 number doesn't work from my location, and the number that's supposed to work for people outside the US doesn't work at all. [Removed. Phone #s not permitted] It says the phone number doesn't exist.

>  "2. Live chat is also randomly available."

Live chat is not live. I've been waiting for a response for nearly 2 hours.

> "3. You can send them a message, (during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out)."

1. If you're talking about messaging them via the "live chat" I've been trying this for 2 hours, and IT IS BUSINESS HOURS IN THE US RIGHT NOW. And no one is responding. It's not working.

>  "4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?"

I'll try this.

Thank you @kernowlass for your assistance on this thread. We greatly appreciate all the time and expertise you lend to our customers. You rock!

Hello @pasn007

I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time getting a hold of PayPal's Customer Support and confirming your phone number. After reviewing this thread and your other post, it sounds like you're currently in Poland, trying to add a Polish phone number to your US PayPal account - is that right? I can certainly understand the need to use your account internationally. You normally wouldn't be able to add AND confirm an international phone number on your US PayPal account. Also, you can normally only have one confirmed phone number on your account at any given time.

While travelling internationally, PayPal actually doesn't always guarantee the ability to use your account since it's normally considered a bit higher risk than the usual activity in your account history. Depending on what our security system sees, you may still have limited functionality but it's not uncommon to run into issues while travelling outside your home country. With that in mind, if you are staying in Poland for an extended period of time (long enough to open a card or bank there), I would recommend creating a Polish PayPal account.

On the topic of reaching our Customer Support, I can advise that our contacts via Messaging and Social Media are worked in the order they are received. And with the holiday season upon us, I'm sure there's more than the usual amount of concerns in queue which need to be addressed. You can find all available contact methods for US-based PayPal accounts here: How to contact Customer Service. But if you've already reached out via Facebook or Twitter, chances are you'll hear from our support agents as soon as someone receives your concern.

In the mean-time, please accept my sincere apologies for the limited functionality of your account. I hope our Support Teams are able to assist you a bit further.

Happy Holidays and Safe Travels!

 - Jon K

-- "It sounds like you're currently in Poland, trying to add a Polish phone number to your US PayPal account - is that right? I can certainly understand the need to use your account internationally."

Yes, I'm in Poland, I'm In the EU a lot more than I used to be. I have black and forth, but I'm here more often at the moment. But ALL of my business is done in the US. And isn't related to Poland whatsoever. So it would be stupid for me to change to a Polish account. For one, I don't speak Polish, so having everything in Polish would be utterly ridiculous. I also don't have bank accounts in Poland, and don't want any. So, setting up a "polish" PayPal account doesn't fit my needs.

--- "You normally wouldn't be able to add AND confirm an international phone number on your US PayPal account."

This is ridiculous. We live in a global market. There are millions of people like me who work and travel full-time. People who have residency, and US nationality, but who travel around the world. I have a permeant Google Voice number in the US but PayPal won't seem to let me add that one to my account. So, I'm stuck using a platform that doesn't seem to acknowledge the modern world we live in.

--- "Also, you can normally only have one confirmed phone number on your account at any given time."

Yes, I believe I've only ever had one. I have one number right now, but I can't verify it. But the reason it won't verify is because it's sending a text message to the wrong number. PayPal.com has my number correctly, but the iPhone app drops the +48 prefix and thus when it attempts to send the text message to verify the number it adds a +1 prefix instead of using the number I actually added which has a +48 prefix.

Again, PayPal.com (the website) has my phone number correct, but the phone number in the app is the same except without the prefix.

This isn't a matter of payapl rules, it's a matter of poor programing and foresight in development. If I could verify my number via the website it would work fine, but PayPal doesn't have this option. It only seems to allow verifying via the iPhone app.

---- "While travelling internationally, PayPal actually doesn't always guarantee the ability to use your account since it's normally considered a bit higher risk than the usual activity in your account history. "

Again, seeing as we liven a global world full of digital nomads like myself it seems ridiculous. There's no "risk" since I can use 2 factor authentication as well as biometrics via facial recognition on my iPhone. I've literally never had a single account of mine hacked and I have hundreds of accounts all over the web. Going back to my issue, it's not an issue of security or rules, it's a bug. The iPhone app doesn't recognize the phone number prefix I put in when I added my phone number.

--- "Depending on what our security system sees, you may still have limited functionality but it's not uncommon to run into issues while travelling outside your home country. With that in mind, if you are staying in Poland for an extended period of time (long enough to open a card or bank there), I would recommend creating a Polish PayPal account. "

Polish paypal account is ridiculous for the reasons I previously mentioned. Also, I'm not always in Poland anyway.

--- "On the topic of reaching out Customer Support, I can advise that our contacts via Messaging and Social Media are worked in the order they are received. And with the holiday season upon us, I'm sure there's more than the usual amount of concerns in queue which need to be addressed. "

PayPal has been around a long time, they've had well over a decade to realize that they should staff for the holidays. Also, it's almost always impossible to get ahold of PayPal any time I've tried to in the past. I usually wait on hold for an hour, but I can't call.

--- "You can find all available contact methods for US-based PayPal accounts here: How to contact Customer Service. But if you've already reached out via Facebook or Twitter, chances are you'll hear from our support agents as soon as someone receives your concern."

I've been in the queue for 2 hours on Facebook. I got a response via live chat after about an hour and it was just a "hit and run." They posted some useless information about how to add a phone number (which didn't at all address my issue) and then didn't reply after I replied back. They just left. I've been waiting another hour, or more, since then.

Paypal is country specific so if you move countries you have to open another paypal account in the country you reside in and add an address / phone number / bank accounts / cards from within that country.
This is because Paypal varies a lot country to country according to what the banks/governments of that country allow them to offer.

1) I'm a US citizens with US residency and US banking. PayPal doesn't want me to open a Polish PayPal account. I don't have a polish bank account. I just have a Polish phone number. I also have a US phone number but can't use it with PayPal because they don't accept new Google Voice phone numbers.

2) I haven't "moved countries." I'm visiting Europe, and I happen to be in Poland right now. I'm still a resident in the US, who does business in the US and has my banking in the US. Just because I visit another country doesn't mean I should open bank accounts in that country when I don't do any business in that country.

3) I reside in the US.

4) I'm not going to get Bank Accounts all over Europe just because I'm traveling in Europe and want to use PayPal. That's just stupid, and not at all what PayPal would want me to do.

Which is why you are getting problems. You can't use a country specific paypal account in another country.

Not rocket science, you either don't use paypal until you get home or you open a Polish paypal account.

I travel as well but do not use Paypal once I have left my country as I know it is country specific only.
