I'm 20, But PayPal Limited My Account for Being Under 18. Need Help

Hi everyone,                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    I’m 20 years old and recently created a PayPal account. About a week ago, I completed my ID verification, which clearly shows I’m above 18. Today, I linked a new bank account for withdrawals (still awaiting verification deposits), and shortly after, I received an email from PayPal saying my account is limited because I’m supposedly under 18. This seems like a mistake, as all my documents confirm my age. Is there any way to get this resolved quickly? I’m willing to provide any additional proof if needed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Hear me out too, I already above 19 and my notification from Paypal said something like "Your account access is permanently restricted. After reviewing the review, we have decided to permanently limit your account due to potential risks. You won't be able to conduct any further business with PayPal". I don't know how to make an appeal or at least close/delete the account, I've searched through out other website and they said you account will still get banned, even you got the age requirement this year, but it count from when your account is created.

So for short, the solution it is to create another new account, this is suck. I don't even have any other way to create one when they keep my email, phone number, citizen id (bc they also said I cannot use them anymore to create new account). Sadly

Hello ductr2hn, thanks for your input!

That’s quite unfortunate, and I understand your frustration. I’m in a similar situation, and in my permanent limitation email, they also suggested creating a new account if I wanted to continue using PayPal. While searching for a solution, I came across a YouTube video where someone mentioned they were able to make a new PayPal account using the same personal details but a different email address. They also suggested unlinking any linked bank account from the restricted account first if you plan to use it on the new one.

I’m still waiting for a response from customer support myself, so I can’t confirm if this method works. But I thought I’d share it here in case it’s helpful for you too.

Best of luck, and I hope we both find a solution soon!

Hello @Aaryan7

Welcome to the PayPal Help Community and thanks for posting here!

I do understand your concern regarding your account being limited. For the safety and security of the network, PayPal often review accounts for potential risks which may lead to a limitation being placed on the account, depending on what is found during the review, your account may become limited. Here is an article that can help you understand which documents required to remove limitation on your account www.paypal.com/cshelp/article/help506 . Hello Jyoti, thanks for the warm welcome and for the information!

After browsing through Google, multiple community forum posts, and YouTube videos, it’s clear that permanent limitations cannot be lifted, and I’ll have to create a new account (which was also mentioned in my limitation email). My issue now is that I haven’t been able to reach the customer care team—they aren’t picking up calls, and I’m still waiting for a reply on Twitter.

I just want to confirm and ensure that if I create a new account with a new email and the same ID details, I won’t get flagged again. Any guidance on this would be appreciated!

Hello @Aaryan7

As per your query I would like to inform you that users cannot create a new PayPal account using the same email address as a permanently restricted account.

Hope this information helps,
Jyoti
