Is there a way to auto turn off One Touch when PayPal turns it on without my permission?

I get it. PayPal really, really, really wants us to use OneTouch. Yesterday I logged in to check something. Big button says: get your one-time code. In small letters below it: "Try another way." I click that. Another thing pops up asking if I want to use OneTouch -- some QR code thingy. I ignore it and choose "Sign in with Password." So, after navigating the "Use OneTouch" maze, I'm finally in.

And then a few hours later: I get the dreaded email -- "Since we recognize this device, you'll continue to stay logged in." After saying NO twice, they turned it on anyway.

For me, this seems to be a major security risk. What if I'm on a public machine? What if someone sees me typing in my passcode and steals my phone?

Also, OneTouch would be an inconvenience for me, as I have separate personal and business accounts, and sometimes it's impossible to see which account is logged in. It's actually easier for me to have to choose the account at login and type in the password.

But isn't this also a major legal risk for PayPal? Twice yesterday, they asked me to turn on and I declined. I chose not to opt in to their unsafe service. And they pushed it on me anyway? Isn't this EXACTLY why Wells Fargo got into trouble a few years ago when they opened new accounts for their customers without them knowing anything about it? It seems to me that if this ever made it into a courtroom, all I'd have to do is say, "I said no, and they did it anyway." The fact that they're asking us to opt-in at all seems to suggest there is a rule they're breaking.

I and others have brought this up before, and it seems largely ignored by the company. These days they no longer listen to us -- acting like a monopoly. But they aren't a monopoly. I already have it in my plans for 2024 to research Square and other alternatives for my business. Also, I've largely stopped using PayPal unless I most absolutely need to (where it's already automatically set up) -- I just feel safer typing in my credit card info into the vendor's form.

But I figured it was worth one last try -- it's a pain to change up any module of my business's website.

Does anyone have a solution to permanently stop PayPal's default behavior of turning on OneTouch every time I log in?

It just happened again. It looks like my phone had stopped with this illegal activity. But today I logged in with my desktop, and I had to get through 4 "Are you sure you don't want this?" messages to just sign in with my password. And I still got the dreaded "We turned it on anyway" email. And I'm thinking, "Y'all really want to go the Wells Fargo route on this?"

Okay then ... I'm putting it on my to-do list: get rid of PayPal.

If any of you get any whispers of a class-action lawsuit, please let me know. I'd be interested.
