Not receiving 'confirmation' push notification while trying to integrate to other apps

Hi,

I just recently changed my phone from a Pixel 4a to the newest Pixel 8 Pro. I had PayPal connected to both my Google Wallet and as a payment option on my previous phone.

Due to changing phones, I had to reintegrate PayPal to both. And now is where things are just not working properly:

  1. Google Play
    • Trying to connect with the new cellphone: If I try to add PayPal as a payment option to Google Play using my new cellphone (P8P), I get all the way to the point where, after logging in to PayPal, I get to the `Let's confirm it's you` window, where I should open the PayPal app and follow the prompt to continue. Thing is, unlike on my previous phone, here the notification never comes in and if I open the app there's no prompt, so there's no way for me to make such confirmation;
    • Trying to connect through the web (desktop): I'm asked if I want to receive an SMS/Whatsapp/call. Regardless of the option I choose, whenever I input my number and click 'next', I get an error message saying it's an invalid number (PS: the number is correct and it is my real number).
  2. Google Wallet
    • Here, when I try to add PayPal as an option, I'm prompted to make a call to a PayPal agent to receive a confirmation code on the PayPal app. Did that, got the agent to send me a push notification that never arrived. Opening the app also didn't prompt to anything, so the push notifications were just being ignored / not arriving to me.

I was told by the agent that it 'might take a few days' for my new linked phone to be recognized, but it honestly didn't make much sense to me. The number is just the same and the app is already there working... 'properly'.

I also made sure the PayPal app has permission to notifications and has unrestricted battery usage, so it should be receiving notifications.

Not sure what else to do other than wait a few days like the agent said, but I just have a gut feeling it won't really help.

Any other suggestions?
