Unable to set up PayPal with App Store - still requests verification

Trying to link my PayPal account to my App Store account

I lost my debit card, and am awaiting a new one, so I linked my PayPal account to my bank account in order to still be able to use the App Store, however it’s not having it. I’ve set up 2FA, verified my email and mobile number, I have authorised the direct debit, so I don’t really understand why the App Store is still asking that I verify my PayPal account - what more do I need to do…? I even transferred a small amount from my bank to my PayPal balance, but I can’t access that, either.

What other verification does the App Store require…?

I'm sorry to hear you're running into some issues connecting your PayPal on the app store. Have you updated your funding sources on your PayPal account recently? I might recommend checking your funding source on your account to make sure they are confirmed. You may try some troubleshooting such as deleting PayPal as a payment option on your Apple ID account and then just add it back to your Apple account.

 

If that does not work, please try these steps,

  1. Go to the app store
  2. Tap the avatar icon
  3. Tap your account
  4. Tap on the payment method and complete the prompts.
  5. Once done you can go back again and select PayPal, you will have to log in again with the correct credential.
