does paypal accept non-US phone numbers to receive their text messages ?

i try to enter my french phone number in addition to my us phone number to receive paypal codes in either country.

the site does not seem to accept non-us phone numbers[Removed. Phone #s not permitted] no[Removed. Phone #s not permitted] no[Removed. Phone #s not permitted]work.

i always get the response "enter a valid phone number".

Paypal is country specific so you have to open a paypal account in the country you reside in and add an address / phone number / bank accounts / cards from within that country.

yet, it's unfortunate that paypal has this limitation.

certainly my bank gives me the option to register several phone numbers; even foreign ones.

i dont want to open yet another paypal account.

i just will stop using paypal outside of the usa.
