Invoice still showing as pending to wrong email

Hello, I sent an invoice to an incorrect email address and updated the email address shortly after it was sent, the invoice has been paid by the correct recipient and the transaction is complete. I just received an email from the wrong email address saying the invoice is still showing under her pending transactions. She would like it cleared but I have no way to do this that I see? The transaction is complete on my end. How does she get this removed? Do I need to do anything? Help!

You sent a PayPal invoice to one person and then another paid that invoice.  I don't know how that can happen.  There was just one invoice.

A recipient can cancel a received invoice normallly, you state that this very invoice was paid by another person. 

Please explain how that happened.

I sent it to smith22@gmail realized it should have gone to smith223@gmail and updated my invoice. Which sent it to the correct person. Smith223 logs in, pays invoice, and completes the transaction. But smith22 is saying the pending invoice is still in their pending transactions. I updated the invoice from smith22 to smith223, why didn't it remove the invoice from smith22's transactions?

I didn't realize you could edit an invoice and re-send it.

How many invoices are showing in your PayPal account?

 

There is nothing wrong with a unpaid invoice hanging in a recicpients' email.  The recipient should have an option to cancel it.

This is invoice #39. It is just the one invoice, I should have cancelled and recreated and would have if I had known the issue it would create. She is stating she cannot cancel it on her end, since when she goes to click "pay invoice" it tells her it's been paid by smith223. And obviously I cannot cancel it because it's done and over! I will let them know it should not affect anything in regards to their account and that it seems like there isn't anything we can do...

I didn't realize that such could happen.  It's just unfortunate a stranger has a paid invoice dangling, but it wouln't have a negative impact.

Anyway, you explanation is a great learning experience for me, just becuase I like to know stuff; maybe I'll be a abetter helper with some new knowledge about invoices. 🙂

I had this same unfortunate thing happen to me about 6 months ago. 

 

A company I have never done busines with FAT FINGERED  my email address for an invoice. After I contacted them they cancelled it and 6 months later when I look at my account - this invoice is pending on my account. If I look on the paypal app - I have to sometimes remind myself not to think of the pending amount as a debit from my balance.

 

Inconvenience is an UNDERSTATEMENT - I find it crazy  that Paypal cant correct this on my account.
