Auto Return vs. Button Customize Advanced Features

I’m in the process of setting up my business through paypal.  When I’m creating a button, in “Step 3: Customize advanced features (optional)” there are two sections to fill to either  take the customer to a url when they cancel or finish their checkout.  Is this the same as the auto-return function under the My Business Setup > Customize my buyer’s experience > Auto return section?  Or is there a difference between the two?  If the same, do I need to turn it on if I place the url’s  in the “Step: 3” section when creating a button and place the same url in the “Return URL” section of Auto return?  It’s a bit confusing.
