Cannot connect HSBC UK to paypal in order to lift limits

Hello,

Any help with this problem will be appreciated as it's driving me nuts.

I've hit the sending money limits with my PayPal account. So I now need to connect my HSBC account - via the authentication service - in order to lift my limit.

However, after choosing my bank in the connection process, I'm then sent to a HSBC pop up window in my browser, and asked to enter my user name and security code (created using the HSBC authenication app). I've entered these correctly and each time HSBC/Paypal keeps telling me my user name and code are wrong.

They are not wrong, they are correct. I know this because I have to go through a similar process with my accountancy program (Xero) every few months, and that connects perfectly.

I've been trying to connect Paypal and HSBC over the last month and every time the same thing is happening. Something is broken.

Can you please tell me how to fix this, or check it at your end, or get HSBCs look into it?

Thankyou

Does the name on your bank account exactly match the name on your paypal account?

Hi Kernowlass,

Thanks for the reply.

No the account names don't exactly match as the HSBC account is a business account with multiple signees.

Best,

James

Then the business name of the account should match the business name on the bank account.

hello again,

I've updated my business information now. The business name for my PayPal account matches exactly the same one I use for my business, and the one used by my accounting software. However, I'm still unable to complete the account verification process.

Please advise.
