I am a US citizen in Mexico. My PayPal is a US account, not Mexican. The bank associated with PayPal is Wells Fargo in Houston, Tx. Every time I try to sign on I get a message that there is a problem with my account. Then I have to create another password. Very annoying (I have made many already!) Also I have problems buying something online if it costs more than $50.

You could phone customer services to let them know and they can verify you via your phone linked to your paypal account BUT that still may not give you all the options that you want as you would basically be using a US paypal account in Mexico.
Sorry your best bet for further advice is to give c.s. a call to clarify what options you do have.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Paypal is country specific so if you move countries you have to open another paypal account in the country you reside in and add an address / phone number / and bank accounts from within that country.
You are supposed to withdraw any funds / resolve issues / remove cards and bank accounts before you leave your old country. If you don't then you may have problems doing so once you have moved.
The only exception is U.S expats can add their bank accounts to other countries paypal accounts (paypal is a U.S company so they allow their citizens to do this).

Thank you for responding. What about US tourists living temporarily in another country? Will PayPal work without opening a bank account and another PayPal account in that country? I do have a residence in the US and sometimes live there.Reply

If you go 'travelling' then thats fine but you are supposed to contact customer services first so that there are no problems accessing that account BUT some options may not be available or work for you in another country.
This is because paypal offers different options per country and not all services are available in all countries.

Thanks again for the reply. Then I guess I would have to go back home to report to PayPal that I will be traveling? And is there a limit on how long I can be out of the country? My US bank needs to be informed also? Sorry to be asking so many questions, I appreciate your patience.
