SNAD Claim WON as a SELLER! Thank you!

I have been on ebay since 1998, and using paypal since it started.

I do miss the old days where it was an auction site, and a community, and where sellers could leave feedback and the buyers didnt have loopholes to exploit claims.

I understand there is also the side where buyers were getting scammed.

But when it comes to long time mom and pop type sellers, i have seen 3 claims in the last 5 yrs.

A constant attempt of a complaint saying there is some flaw, but no intent to return the item, its "I want a partial refund, what are you gonna do???" and so a buyer can constantly say there is some weird flaw or make some claim, notify ebay and paypal, the sellers funds are held while an investigation is underway.

I state policies in my listings (I sell old use collectibles, I list them all as used, note any visible flaws, take photos, and have that I dont take refunds, all my sales are final and I dont do partial refunds) to try and ward off those who like to push that. I understand these policies mean nothing in the end, which I also think should be individual to the seller and the buyer needs to read an add, ask appropriate questions if they are uncertain of something.

But buyer remorse or people stuck in a bidding war, and then later claiming some ridiculous claim just wanting a partial refund and to keep your item. That Im tired of.

I had 2 years ago, I escalated them to claim, they kept trying to get $$ out of me, when paypal said "return the item for a refund" both backed away. Case closed

The 3rd one was a talking toy. I test all toys, test before they go in the box, it took batteries. It arrived and I was chewed out with a nasty message saying it did not work and how her daughter was devastated at her bday party? It was super melodramatic and exclamation marks and how I hurt her child. I asked her "Did you put the batteries in correctly? Did you try some non rechargeable batteries? Are you pushing the correct points on the toy to activate the voice?" as I had checked it and always double check when packing. More irate responses, they filed a claim, and that was the one time I got a toy send back and the buyer got a refund.

I video taped the package arrival and opening of the box, and opening the toy and putting batteries in, and guess what IT WORKED! I was so livid. I phoned ebay/paypal and told them of this and did they want me to send them the footage? They said No, they said they sympathized with me, I said this buyer has lied, and they also left me a negative (my only negative on my profile of over 1000 and its from many years ago.) The person on the phone said they were going to note a case like mine. There was nothing I could do. I ended up reselling the toy without an issue from the next buyer.

A few yrs later I sold another item internationally, and once again got a claim saying there was a pin sized hole, I never saw such a hole, took front and back photos, close up for even people who messaged me of certain points and adding it to the add.

The buyer filed a SNAD, funds were held.

I escalated it once again, also the buyer said "What are you gonna do?" they never asked to return for a refund, it was the partial refund game again.

They also said they tried to "Fix" the pinhole and that they liked the item, but said it was too expensive? (It was a bidding war at the end)

So now buyers are disputing value???? I thought with an auction there is no set value, its what the bidders dictate?

I got notice from paypal that I WON the dispute! I was thrilled, and from all I have read this isnt common these days.

I have since found internet forums for the particular item I sold, and many making claims for these toys, getting them and then filing and wanting partial refunds. I would love to share this info with paypal directly and not on one of these forums, to send them a warning of whats going on in this collecting community, exploiting SNAD claims for one particular item over and over.

But a honest seller who writes good ads can WIN!

I just hate to see how many sellers dont or give partial refunds out of fear. I also noted this buyer in their feedback left for others left comments of over a dozen times getting partial refunds, I would hope paypal has sometime of flagging for people requesting refunds often or filing claims.

Ive been on ebay since 1998 and have filed One claim with paypal in all that time.

Thank you Paypal though for the WIN! I hope this is a new trend for the good guys!
