I sent a friend some money and the email I entered was not capitalized in the right spots and it didn't find her. I fixed it by asking her to send me her paypal.me link and I got refunded and sent it to the link she provided but I'm just curious if the emails have to be precise to be able to send money out and why is that or is this just a rare case?

As an email address identifies a paypal account then yes of course they have to be exact.
You were lucky, if that mis-spelled email address had actually been owned by someone else then you may have lost your money.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
