Hard Hold On Account

I would like some assistance on withdrawing from my FNB online bank account. When I am withdrawing  from Paypal in my online FNB account, I receive an (E-104129) Hard Hold On Account message. I would like to know why is this happening. I recently contacted FNB, but they said everything seems fine on their side and that I should try to contact Paypal directly.

I've experienced the same problems but can get no answers as to what the problem is. Have you been able to sort it out?

Unfortunately one has the exact same issue, after having to go tooth and nail trying to get the darn things linked. Don't understand why there always has to be another hurdle just when you think you're in the clear to use your own cash...

Same thing happened to me. I came here to look for advice which I never found. I then went into the FNB branch to get answers and the lovely man assisted me every step of the way. We called FNB PayPal branch which even though took 10 -15 min to get through to someone they told us we need to fill in a form (not sure what form, something about tax), so I went to the teller where the lady filled in the form and scanned it back to them. Spent another 10 - 15 min to get back to the lady we spoke to on the phone who had received the documents and lifted the hold for me. The whole procedure took 58 min. I am now able to withdraw. Also I found out this hold was only on the use of PayPal services, therefore I would have been able to make transactions like normal, I just was not able to use any PayPal services, it is all fixed now and back to normal.

How did they speak to someone from PayPal?  PayPayl messaging is switched off and they say due to covid no one is on staff to answer the phones.

You need to contact FNB Tax Compliance Department - <removed>. Once you speak with a consultant they will identify you and email you a form that you need to complete - this is to check you tax compliance in South Africa and internationally. Once you complete the form you send it back to them and after 30 minutes you need to phone back and they will verify the information and lift the block off your account.

HI Paypal community

Thank you Nats28. Your method worked for me. What they require from SARS is your Self Certification. It's a Tax Declaration form. Once they send you the forms just complete it and send it back to them but wait for 30 minutes and then phone and find out if everything is in order. Finally they will remove the Hard Hold Account message and you will be able to withdraw from Paypal. Follow Nats28 method and you will succeed. Take care and stay safe.

Hi Which FNB Branch did you visit and do you remember who you spoke too. This seems to be the only person throughout the FNB and PayPal network in South Africa that knows what this problem is and how to solve it. My cell is <removed>.
