How to link South African bank account

South african banks do not have 9 digit routing numbers.  All the responses provided so far are just copy and paste of the directions to link accounts where there IS a 9 digit routing number so not helpful.

has anyone successfully linked a south african account and if no how do you withdraw funds in paypal?  or what can they be transferred to.  Thanks.

But you're using a US PayPal account. Close it because it won't be any use to you, unless you have a US bank account or US social security number/tax ID number.

Close account checklist:

1. Resolve any open disputes or account limitations.
2. Zero out the balance.
3. Cancel any active automatic payments.
4. Remove financial info (bank accounts, cards).
5. Go to Settings (cog icon).
6. Click Close Account under Account Options section.

Can't link a South African bank to a US PayPal account. PayPal accounts are country specific. Need to open a South Africa PayPal account:

And even then you can't link a SA bank account directly at your PayPal account, have to follow these directions with PayPal's Partner, FNB:
