Transfer from Bank to Paypal instantly, information missing

This is the Help page for this type of transaction.  We can't find (anywhere) this string You move money from your bank account - can anyone help? How do I add money to my PayPal balance, but not waiting several days? [Background: applying a refund to a customer, insufficient funds in paypal account, tried the refund anyway, but message states not enough money - we were expecting it to claw the difference from the linked bank account] - it's like the help panel is for a different page altogether.

You don't need to have money in your PayPal account balance to make a payment. We can simply take the money from a bank account or card that's linked to your PayPal account. However, if you've linked your bank account to your PayPal account, you can move money from your bank account to your PayPal account for free.

To add money:

1. Go to Money.
2. Click Transfer Money.
3. Select the accounts and balances involved.
4. Choose to move money to your PayPal account yourself (almost instantly), or let us do it for you (in 4 - 5 working days).

If you want to move money yourself:

• Under 'You move money from your bank account', click Continue
• Make a note of the payment details (in red) and log in to your online banking (or visit your bank in person) to make a payment to your PayPal account
• Your money will arrive in your PayPal account within a few minutes. We'll email you when it arrives.

If you want us to move your money from your bank, you must first confirm your bank account.

To have us move your money:

• Under 'PayPal moves money from your bank', click Continue
• Select the bank account you want to use, enter the desired amount and click Continue
• Review the details and click Submit. (Click View the details of this transaction to see the expected date for the money to arrive.)
• Your money will arrive in your PayPal account within 4 - 5 working days. You can check the status at any time by going to Activity and checking the transaction status.

Sorry whats the actual question?

If you want to issue a refund and you have a linked and confirmed bank account then paypal will take directly from that without you having to add funds to your balance.

You don’t have enough money in your balance to complete this payment. Add money or a bank account and confirm it.

The bank account has been confirmed for 16 years.

Thats odd then, is the direct debit mandate between you and paypal still set up in your online banking?

Have you been able to use your bank account to fund purchases ok recently?

Have you had a failed bank transfer or negative balance at all recently?
