Hotel deposit refund

I used my PayPal cash card to pay for a deposit needed for a hotel stay. The deposit was released in full by the hotel upon check out but still shows as ”pending” in transaction details. How long does PayPal take to refund a transaction of this type?

For refunds it normally takes 3-5 business days to be reflected on the funding source  that was used in the original transaction, whether it be your bank or card.

Thank you for your reply @Goldileen. I was informed by the hotel that the full deposit was released when I checked out. I checked out March 27, 2020 and still have not received the released deposit in my PayPal account as of today. It's going on 8 days and nothing has been returned to my account. There's no point to calling customer service because they are closed due to COVID-19. Just looking for some answers is all. Thank you.

It always takes me a damn month to get my pending money from a hotel deposit. It's on PayPal end. It's complete **bleep** and I'm sick of it.

I am still waiting for my hotel deposit that was released by the hotel on April 3rd. I messaged PayPal and the employee told me just to dispute the charge? I’m not disputing it, I had this problem with PayPal before, I had to keep messaging them until I get an employee that actually takes time to look into the issue and give me the deposit back. I’m still waiting.

I am having the same issue specific to Marriott hotels. PayPal told me it could be up to 21 business days before the holds are released by their credit card processor unless each hotel faxes them to release the hold. Of course each hotel responded to my fax request differently. One flat out refused. One unable to fax. What’s most concerning is the pending charges are disappearing but I’m not getting getting the all funds returned. Some have returned randomly, some not. It’s extremely hard to keep track of. I’m at a loss for solutions other than waiting and waiting. I definitely will never use this card at hotels again.
