Security Key "Secret"

I just got my new security key card.  I tried to activate it but the security code would not change.  I discovered that, apparently, the card needs to be "warm" before it will work.  While I was waiting on PayPal to help me on the phone, I put the card on the top of my laptop for easy reference.  While waiting, I idly picked it up and pressed the key.  Lo and Behold!  A new number appeared.  I left it on the table top while I went to the activation page.  When I pressed for the second number, no change.  I put the card back on the laptop for 30 seconds, pressed the key, and it worked perfectly.  The only thing I can think of is that the card needs to be warm to work.  Does this make sense to anyone?  Anyone have the same experience?

If you press the key twice during the 30-second period, it turns the display off.

You have to wait 30 seconds for a new number to appear, then pressing the button activates the new number.

Really? I've only been able to turn it off like once after I bought it. After that, it has never turned off no matter how hard I try. It's kind of annoying.

Recieved my Security Key yesterday and it seems to be stuck with one string of numbers being displayed that does not change, I've been trying the warm the card up idea but no joy, pushing the button changes nothing. Has anyone had any luck with  this problem. It's sunday so no one available from paypal. Please no flip replies like "gee maybe the card doesn't like you"

ramsdelk,

It doesn't happen very often, but it sounds like your security key may have been damaged in shipping and is now frozen.

There is not a way to change this situation.  Please use the contact us link and allow us to help you get a replacement security key.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
