Customer re-routed package with UPS after shipment, effect on seller protection?

There are a lot of posts about the "change of address" scam before an item is shipped, but I can't seem to find anything about this scenario:

I sold an item on eBay, and prefer to ship UPS, so I opened the transaction on PayPal and created a shipping label to the customer's confirmed address.

UPS reports a failed delivery attempt because the customer was not present, and that the item would be held at the nearest UPS Access Point for pickup.

Now UPS tracking states that a change of delivery address has been received and the item is being delivered to the new address.

I requested a signature and should be receiving delivery confirmation, but I can't see where it's being delivered to.

I'm concerned that this is somehow going to end badly and I lose my seller protection, or somehow it's a loophole scam similar to the other.

Anybody have experience with this scenario?

Hi twinjeeps,

That's a great question! Technically, this could void your protection as a seller as the shipping information wouldn't show delivery to the correct address; however, if you save your receipt showing shipment to the correct address provided during checkout, this may be used as proof or verification if a dispute were to be raised. I hope this helps!
