Payment says awaiting proof of postage but email is in spam folder???

I'm supposed to be receiving payment from someone on Facebook but I received the email in my spam folder saying payment won't go through because it's waiting for proof of postage. Is this a scam?

Thanks for your post, and welcome to the Community! That's a great question. In some cases when you receive a payment for a good/service, the funds may be placed on a hold. The payment itself should still be visible in your activity, though. I would recommend reviewing the following Help Center articles for more details on Why my Payment is on Hold and How to Release my Held Payment. If you've been asked to provide proof of postage before you receive the payment, this may not be a legitimate email.
