Hi. I’m new to Paypal and I just want to know why I was charged with a fee by receiving money from the company I work for. I work as an Online English Teacher and our company is based in China. The company sends us our salaries through Paypal. I’m very confused as to why I was charged because this is a personal account and my coworkers did not experience being charged every time they receive their salary. Please help me know more about this issue. Thank you!           -Majerle

It depends on the payment type the sender used and they used the Goods and Services option. And they should choose Goods and Services option if the payment is for work or services you performed. It does not matter if you have a personal account or business account. You will need to instruct your employer to send payment as friends and family payment.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

Sharpie,

that would be fee avoidance, she is getting paid for work performed, her employer is not her family or friend.

your employer does the right thing,it is paying you for goods and services, you work and you get paid.

Paypal takes a cut .

review fee schedule on Paypal.

if your employer uses friend and family to pay you,it is fee avoidance as you and your employer are not friend and family.

it is no different when you go to a currency exchange place to cash a check, they charge you a fee,how else can they pay rent and utilities and payroll?

The friends / family option is not available in many Asian countries.

Depends where their salaries are sourced from, as i said many 'not all' asian countries can't accept f.f payments.

Yep but folks in the Phillipines often work 'online' and for companies internationally so as I said it depends where the wages were sourced from ie which country.
