I received payment from the same person for over a year and this month a $9.00 processing fee was taken out of the payment. What would cause that? Is it at the Sender end or my end?

The sender could have sent a goods and services payment in error.
Or, they sent a payment with credit card and elected you to pay the fee this time.
What was amount sent? I can reverse engineer the fee to get the rate to determine why you were charged.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

Yes. Person should have sent payment as ‘friends and Family’ to avoid processing/transaction fee.
