Hi, I'm about to send someone money via Paypal using their email address but wanted to know what information of mine they will be able to see once I've done this. I'm assuming they will see my full name and email address but will they see anything else such as my postal address/location etc?
Thanks!
Matt

Depends on HOW you send the payment ie which paypal option and WHAT you are sending the funds for ie payment for goods/services OR a gift payment.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. It will be a gift payment, so 'to friend or family'. Via bank debit or PayPal balance.
Thanks!

So if you are sending to a family member or mate then why does it matter what they see, surely they would know your address etc anyway?
That is unless you are sending that way for a purchase in which case PLEASE READ THIS.............
A friends / family (or gift payment) is intended as a transfer of funds from family or friends to one another. For this reason, there is no processing fee when payment is made with bank or PayPal balance.
However as it is a “gift” payment, there is also no Buyer protection as no goods or services should have been exchanged.
If he was not a close mate or family member you should never use that option as it enables the seller to evade paying his paypal fees and negates your buyer protection at the same time. You would also not be able to open a dispute apart from one citing an unauthorised transaction (but that option is for hacked accounts so would be closed as you had authorised the transaction).
You also 'risk' having your account limited for using this option when you are purchasing goods as its against Paypal user agreement.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Ah, okay makes sense, thanks for the information!
If paying for 'an item or service' does that give the payee/seller more details of the buyer? such as postal address or can that info be hidden?
Thanks

Hi @Matt_1231,
If you pay for Goods or Services, the address will be shown if the item has to be delivered physically. If you select that no address is needed, it will be classified as an intangible item or service. Is there a physical item to be delivered? If so, the seller will need your address.
I hope this helps!
Olivia
