How to setup Direct Debit with my bank

I want to schedule regular payments through a Direct Debit with my bank. It said that:

We recommend that you set up a Direct Debit so that you never miss a payment. To do this:

  1. Go to Wallet.
  2. Click PayPal Credit.
  3. Select Make a Payment.
  4. Under 'Set up Direct Debit' choose one of the available options or choose another amount.
  5. Confirm your preferred funding method for your payment. You can make a repeat payment as a Direct Debit from your bank account.
  6. Confirm your payment details.

However, under my Waller, I cannot see "PayPal Credit". Only saw PayPal Balance, transfer money

Have you actually applied for and received a line of credit with Paypal then?

You are talking about Paypal CREDIT though !!!

So have you applied and been accepted by Paypal credit.

Because the info you have given in your opening post about setting up a direct debit is linked to paying off any Paypal CREDIT purchases.

You can't set up a direct debit just to add funds to your Paypal account on a regular basis, you have to do that yourself when you want to add funds.

Once you have added and confirmed your bank account to your Paypal then normally a direct debit is automatically set up.

Why not go and log on to your online bank account and see if one for Paypal is set up.

You can't make regular monthly transfers from your bank account to your paypal account, that option is only there for folks that have taken out Paypal credit and need to 'pay it off' on a regular basis to save interest fees.

However why would you need to do that?

You never need funds in your Paypal balance as when you pay a seller it is automatically debited from your chosen funding source.

You never need funds in your Paypal balance as when you pay a seller it is automatically debited from your chosen funding source. --> is that mean that if my Paypal account is "0", my seller request money from me, Paypal will automatically withdraw money from my bank?

I need to setup Direct Debit for my bank purpose.  So cannot setup monthly direct debit with paypal?

When you pay a seller its never instant, Paypal credit the seller and then Paypal wait for the funds to transfer from your funding source to reimburse themselves. They do this so there is no delay in the despatch of your item.

However they only take this risk if your funding source is..............

1. Bank account but you have a back up card linked OR

2. You pay from that linked card.

My Paypal balance is permanently 0, as I fund all my purchases from my credit card.

You do not need to set up a direct debit, you have already told me that you have one already set up and Paypal use that to transfer funds WHEN you authorise it ie when you pay a seller.
