Bought merchandise at JCPenney w/ debit card, returned. What now?

I used the debit card to buy some merchandise at JC Penney.  When checking out, I used the debit card as a credit card (as I always do).  A week later, today, I returned said merchandise, and the cashier did the usual transaction with credit cards, crediting the card.

I looked at my Paypal account and there is no record of this.  Was this the correct procedure?  Will it take some time to appear?

Did you ever get your $$ credited to your account? How many days did it take if so? I returned a $300 item yesterday and was wondering why it did not show up in the overnight transactions.

I am having the same problem...
