International ATM fees

I plan on traveling from the US to Europe and using my debit card at ATM's to withdraw cash ( Euros) I understand there is a $1 fee plus the ATM owners charge per transaction. Also there is a 1% Non-US ATM Transaction (Using an ATM machine that is not in the US) but will I also be charged a conversion fee of 2.5% making the total 3.5% plus $1 +?

I just spoke to customer service since I am traveling as well...   they said it is their $1 fee and 1% of whatever the ATM fee is to "convert" the money.  not sure where the 2.5% comes in.  Have you found additional info?

Also - if you haven't already left - they said to call a day or two before to let the card security department know what countries you are travelling to, so they don't "freeze" your card on you.

hope this helps!
