Updating thread title to reflect the new date of March 29th.

Please note that we have extended the go live date for this until March 29th. Any questions related to updating the buttons and HTML basics related to this upgrade please post here.

================================

HI,

I received this email from PayPal..

Update your PayPal buttons before 18 January 2017

In January, we'll be upgrading the PayPal integration you're using, Website Payments Standard, to:

  • Let your customers check out in a click with One Touch™
  • Ensure your checkout is always mobile-optimised
  • Deliver a simpler checkout design that’s consistent across desktop and mobile

To ensure you can continue to process payments once these upgrades have taken place, please update your PayPal buttons by 18 January 2017.

What do you need to do?

We’ve identified problems with at least one of your PayPal buttons so please check all your existing buttons for invalid or incorrect data.

--

I've been testing my buttons to see if theres a problem, so far all working (still many to go)
If PayPal has identified a problem cant they also mention where and what it is since they discovered it?

I see the PayPal documentation but so far I cant see my mistake..

Any help or advice on this most welcome.. i.e further info on this email and how to troubleshoot this..

Anthony

This is related to this FAQ:

https://www.paypal-knowledge.com/infocenter/index?page=content&id=FAQ2067

Basically the root of this is that from Jan 17th any variable or data sent to PayPal in the HTML form will not be supported. So anything not documented HERE will cause an issue post Jan 17th

Happy to help troubleshoot specific buttons if you want to post links to buttons you are concerned with. A good way to test is to click the buttons, if the checkout page visible is the new checkout flow, then the button is fine. If you see the old checkout flow it needs work.

Hi Ciaran,

Thanks for the clarification.

Yes I had been going through all the buttons on my site and found some that were bringing up the old cart.

I found the way to resolve it.

They were the only buttons i had set up track inventory for. When i turned off track inventory in paypal button manager the new cart comes up when i click add to cart.

Not sure why that would cause a problem but turning it off solved it. Perhaps a bug? I suppose PayPal would still want to support inventory tracking..

Let me know if you have any more info on that.

Cheers,

Anthony

Here are links to the pages on our website that have paypal button integration. When I click them, I am directed to the new PayPal page, so not sure what would have triggered the notice that we are passing invalid information. Could you please take a look?

I have the same problem - my PayPal buttons went to the old PayPal interface until I unchecked "track inventory".

I need the inventory feature - is this a known bug in the new PayPal? If no, does anyone know where to report problems to PayPal?

Thanks,

Sharon

Hi, we're having the same issue!

When I click the "Proceed to Paypal" button it starts with loading new checkout (hermes i think) but then it ends up on old,

Would you be so kind to check and advise, by clicking here?

Also, if I go back once I'm in the old Paypal page, and redo the "Proceed to Paypal", I end up in the new page.

Thanks a lot!
