Remove old registered email addresses. So the new user can register them

When I remarried in 2008 I wanted an email address with my new name. I could not see what I wanted but 6 months later it was free. My first and last name @*****.com. Great I thought so started to use it. In those days emails were still not anywhere as popular as today. If you set one up but did not use it in so many weeks it was removed and up again to be used by another person. It became my main address for everything. I found Ebay and PayPal would not accept it as the previous user of that address was registered with them. I tried speaking to people at Ebay and PayPal to explain it was my main address. They said I could not use it so carried on using that old address. After about 5 years EBay did send an email out about unused email addresses so after 6 months I could register the address with them BUT not PayPal,every 2 years I call and ask. Since having this address I have had less than 10 emails for the previous user over the last 16 years. I tried again last week explained over the phone but then comes the email addresses to the previous user explaining how to change his email address??? He dides not get any emails they all come to me,all 10 off them. The PayPal sight must be clogged with unused or even defunct email sites. I really do give in, back in the day an email could be short lived and soon be moved on to a new user. I even 4xplained my email address is connected to everything in my life. Business ,banking, tax Healthcare, shopping sites you name it and thst is the email that PayPal think belongs to someone 16 years ago. Rant over
