Cannot receive payments

Hello, I very recently created my PayPal account. I have confirmed my identity using my ID and am awaiting my statement in order to verify my bank account. I'm aware that there are some limitations in relation to spending (and obviously withdrawal) before it is connected, but there are none listed in regard to receiving funds. Nonetheless when (international) friends try and send any amount to test it out they just get stuck in an endless waiting cycle. Is this to do with my unverified bank account? On top of that, I created my account over my phone and chose to make it personal. Mt account type in settings is personal. However, there are some options in the app, like sending invoices or the "Send Money" button leading to a screen titled "Paypal Business", that makes me think maybe I made a mistake during registration, and that this is blocking payment reception. Unsure, though. Please do let me know if you know how to fix this.
