Direct Debit Authorization less amount deducted

I have paid on ebay using paypal with 0 balance but direct debit authorization to my bank.

The 40,96 USD transaction went through and was confirmed as paid, however only a day later paypal took 30 EUR from my bank account. 

30 EUR is about 33 USD, so how did Paypal pay for my 41 USD transaction with 33 USD taken from my bank account?

Apologies for the delay. You should be able to check the breakdown of how your transaction was funded by logging in through a web browser and clicking on 'details' next to the transaction in question.
