Does Paypal return fee to sender if payment is returned?

Hi. My son sent me some money as a gift and I want to return it. It's just too much. Will he also get the fee back that was paid to send it me? If it's a no then I'll just keep it and return it in a check. Thank you.

If you were charged a fee then he must have mistakenly sent it using the goods/services option instead of family/friends?
If that is so then sadly no, if you issue a refund the fee element is not returned as part of that refund.
HOWEVER if you mean he paid a fee and not you then again its not returned BUT if he had funded the paypal payment using a bank account or funds in his balance and not a card then he would not have been charged a fee.
Advice is voluntary.
