Email-Fake?

Dear Community,

I just receiced an email by paypal,  telling me that apparantly I have transferred 20 US dollars to someone. The email they used to send this information to is one of mine, yet not the email I use for my paypal account.

My paypal account doesn't show any money transfer yet.

What should I do? Any help would be appreciated.

If its a spoof, NEVER USE ANY LINK.

Firstly if the email/text addressed you as ''Dear Member'' / ''Customer'' / ''Client'' OR your ''email address'' then that confirms its a spoof as paypal would address you by your full name eg Dear John Smith.

Secondly if there was a link OR attachment in that email/text to ''cancel'' any transaction or ''confirm'' any details then again it would be a spoof.

If there was a problem with your account Paypal would not ask you to click on an unsafe link in an email or by downloading an attachment, they would direct you to log in normally and go to the resolution or the message centre for more information.

Dear kernowlass,

thanks for your reply.

There was no link in my notification, just the information that I had apparently sent 20 dollars to someone I don't know, from an account that uses one of my email addresses with a foreign telephone number.

I did send it to spoof and they agreed that it was bad. I tried to change any accounts that use that email to a different one, but I don't know if that's enough or whatever damage has been done and what my next step should be.

Thanks again!

Cheers,

AltiMa2
