Friend sent me $50 USD, but I'm in Canada and only got $50 CAD

Hi.

 

My friend sent me $50 USD, but I only recieved $50 CAD.  He says he selected USD when he made the transfer.  My PayPal account does not have USD currency added to it.  Could that be the reason I got the money in canadian funds?

Yeah, you didn't have a USD currency balance so it arrives in CAD, currency automatically converted.
