I did not want to title this split payments as it is not about the feature, but I made an online purchase through paypal, amount was preauthorized, then today it was refunded as the order shipped it was charged but it seems like in two parts. Just to find out why this happened would it be on Paypal's end or the merchants?
The seller was using a authorization to capture method of processing their orders. The preauth is to ensure the funds are there. When the seller completes or captures the payment when the item ships the amount is charged and the preauth is released. You should now see one completed transaction in your PayPal activity. If you see a duplicate completed transaction, click on the transaction and click "Report a problem".
Sorry, If I was not clear my question is not about the preauthorization but I am wondering if it was 1 singular order why now it seems the actual payment is in segments.
