Anyone else have this problem?
I sent a request to a friend to be paid back $2000.00 Paypal advertises that you can ask Friends and Family to pay you with the Payme link and that no fees will be charged and the payment will be immediate. So I did that.
Friend paid $2000.00 using the friends and family link.
Paypal too almost $100.00 out of the transaction and then put the payment on hold for one month. When I called them they explained to me that any time a Paypal user requests money it is sent to the other person as a Goods and Service request. This is wrong on many levels:
1. Paypal is toting a free service that is any thing but. The only one paid is Paypal.
2. I have the goods and services option turned off in my profile. Paypal says this does not matter. Still will be sent as a goods and service payment.
3. Paypal charged a fee for what they said was a free service. Paypal is making interest on my money that they are holding.
Three wasted hours later - I had to return the friend's payment twice to him because it happened twice and now he is out $4,000.00 and I have been told that I should send it again by one agent and I was told by two other agent's to never request money because this will happen. At no time did I get the same story from the same agents using fake names. This is beyond frustrating and is in fact criminal. They are telling you one thing and clearly doing another. The only one getting money is Paypal.
