Sending gift money from the UK to a friend in India?

I am trying to send money for a gift for a friend in India. I tried to buy him a giftcard on Amazon.in but Indian regulations apparently don't allow giftcards to be purchased with international cards. Can I send it to him usingPayPal?

Yes, but note that India accounts cannot receive personal payments so it'll have to be sent as a commercial payment or "Paying for item or service" under the amount field during payment process via Send and Request tab. PayPal fee will be deducted on the recipient's end.

Fees can vary depending on the sender and receiver. I would recommend visiting the Fees link at the bottom of any PayPal page.
