Okay, some guy named Mustafe <removed> deposited $1,111.00 into my account today for some unknown reason. Never heard of the guy, nit relayed to an Ebay sale or anything, nothing like that. I haven't received any sort of communication from him either. At least not yet.
I thought about just refunding the money but don't want to touch anything until I figure out whats going on. I changed my password, security questions and added the one time password to my account. Also checked my linked bank account and changed the password there as well. No unusual activity.
I searched her and saw that similar has happened to people on Paypal before but didn't really see a resolution to the issue. I tried calling Paypal but there was an hour hold in the queue and I couldn't wait right now.
The one scam I saw online was that someone sends you money, then contacts you and claims it was an accident and asks you to send it to them some other way rather than just a refund. Either sent to another account or sent some other way (wire transfer etc.). Obviously I won;t do that. The theory is the money is from a stolen credit card, hacked bank account, etc. If you send them the money, then the victims whose account was used reports it to the bank, and the bank comes after you for the money, which you no longer have. A possible scenario, but so far no one has tried to contact me.
I don't want the money in my account! Has anyone had this happen and actually gotten some resolution to the issue? Either through Paypal, or elsewhere? Is there any danger in just refunding the money? That doesn'y give them any sort of access to my account in some weird way would it? I don't think I'll do anything until I get in touch with someone at Payapl, but I can't imagaine I'm teh only one this has happened to.

And it happened again. Paypal just advised me to refund the first deposit and said they'd e-mail the person and advise them I didn't want any further deposits from them. A couple days go buy and this time I get a deposit for 2500 Euros from Kara Lavile from a Yahoo account. This one actually asked me if I wanted to accept the deposit, possibly because it was in Euros, so I denied it.
Same as before though, random person I don't know, depositing a large amount in my account for an unknown reason. I'm sure its a scam but I still don't know what the angle is as there's been no follow up. Paypal has to be aware of this happening but they wouldn't address my question as to what's going on or what type of scam, they just said refund the money. It's very frustrating.
