Wife sent money to my old PayPal account.

I'm in a horrible situation, and hoping someone can help me figure out what to do. Based on my own research so far, there isn't much to do. I live in the US now and my current account is a US account. Before I moved to the US, I had a Danish account. About a year ago I tried to log into it, only to be locked out. I contacted PayPal Denmark who told me there wasn't anything they could do since I don't live in Denmark anymore. Fair enough, not a big problem.

But then today my wife made a huge mistake. Instead of sending $200 to my new account, she sent it to my old account by mistake. We immediately realized the error, but PayPal could not help me when we called them. They said they still have the same policies, and they can't help me gain access to my account. Because this was a personal transfer to friends and family, they also cannot help us dispute it.

One thing they did say was that unclaimed payments are automatically sent back after 30 days, but I have no way of knowing if it is unclaimed. My wife says the payment says completed, so I highly doubt it is "unclaimed", and it seems from research that there are only very few situations where a payment gets that status.

Is there anything at all I can do? Has anyone had any luck with similar situations?

Yikes, disaster.

Your only hope is if you funded that f/f Paypal payment via a card then contact your card issuer and see if they will chargeback for you.

Failing that have you got a trusted mate or family member in Denmark that you can give your paypal details to so they can log in for you and send it back again?
