echeck refund

hi, have an ebay buyer who's cancelled a purchase day after paying. I agreed via ebay to cancel and refund. Not enough funds in paypal at the time of processing (10 April) so it was issued via echeck. Buyer getting a bit nervous now as it's a few hundred £££. Have informed them of situation and they'll have to wait.

Refund has now cleared through my bank to paypal overnight 15/16 April, still showing pending in Paypal. How long does it take from this point to clearing through to the buyer?

Its depends on what funding source the customer paid with.

Issued refunds are returned to original funding source. Arrival times may vary:  

- Bank account payments, 3-5 or 5-7 days, depending on their bank. 

- Cards & PayPal Credit (aka billmelater) about a week, up to 30 days depending on their issuing card. 

- PayPal balance, fairly instant. 

- Split payments between PayPal balance and card/bank, see above.

ok, but does paypal not update to show the funds have cleared from my bank back into my paypal and then on to the buyer ? Or does it just sit at pending refund until the buyer has cleared funds at their end ?
